These splinter shields have an anti-slip coating and protect the turbo pump from foreign object damage. The tolerance between the rotor and stator on Pfeiffer turbo pumps is very small. These inlet screens protect your turbo pump from small objects, such as, filament fragment from a hot cathode ion gauge or a chip from a broken wafer that may get sucked in to the turbo pump.
